I couldn't wait to get home from the farm to paint

these cute little eggplants.

I love their irregular shapes and purple hues.

They were so fun to paint, and just as delicious to eat.

We just returned from Oregon and saw such beautiful

lavender on the Hood River.

It was a highlight of the trip to watch the lavender blowing in the wind

with the mountains in the background.

And the smell!  Oh my.

This is my first painting from the trip.

Baby Chucks

These tiny Chuck Taylors were a Christmas gift for our 

grand daughter who was born just 3 days ago.

They remind me of her dad, who had Chucks in

every color as a boy.

Painting this brought me so much happiness,

as I reminisced her dad on his riding toys 

and using the rubber tips for the brakes.

So, now a new chapter begins with so much love

for this tiny, newborn little girl.

Monet's Boat

Remembering our trip to France last May,

and one of the highlights was Monet's garden in Giverny.

I used artistic license to make the boat more colorful.

I tried to capture the light and the mood of being there.

Claude Monet created this beautiful garden just so he 

could paint it.  Wow!

I think I will try this again and change the boat color,

maybe red or yellow.

I wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!

I am so blessed that this has been a wonderful year for our family.

Our daughter got married, and now our son and his wife are expecting!  

Our family is growing and we are so happy.

I hope to post more in 2018. I am showing my work in two

different shops, so this keeps me busy and encourages me to paint more.

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday.  

I spent the day enjoying calls, cards, and text messages from so many.

I received this beautiful blue and white vase filled with 

sunflowers from my sweet friend,

so of course today I painted them.

I came upon this sweet little house while strolling the streets of

Auvers-sur-Oise not far from Paris.

This is the village where Vincent van Gogh lived and painted

before his death in 1890.

It was fascinating to learn so much about the misunderstood

artist, and to walk where he lived and painted.

I will be sharing more paintings from our trip to France.

My husband and I enjoyed walking to the Eiffel Tower

several weeks ago while we were in Paris.

It is such a beautiful, romantic city.

On the way back to the hotel, a spring shower popped up.

So, we tucked ourselves into a Parisian cafe 

for some onion soup and French wine.  

It was a magical experience.
